​Gym of Rock - Child and Youth Program/Lesson Coordinator

PART TIME/FULL TIME

This person will develop, and instruct all group lessons and camps as well as private adult and youth lessons at the Gym. This person will interact with gym members and guest climbers and will work gym attendant shifts while performing general gym duties. Sky is the limit for program development, and the right person could potentially book lessons to make this a full time Instruction position.
 

Coordinator specific duties include but not limited to:

• Develop the Child and Youth group lesson and camp programs.

• Oversee and instruct the group child and youth lesson and camp programs

• Develop private and semi private lesson plans and instruct lessons for a wide variety of climbers abilities, and ages

• Develop and teach child and adult technique classes

• Development of a Gym to Crag lesson program and instruction of that program
   

General duties include but not limited to:

• Using Rock Gym Pro to check customers and sell products

• Educating climbers about the gym rules and to competently use our equipment including harnesses and auto belays

• Offering new climbers an introduction to bouldering and top rope

• Introducing climbing safety to new climbers

• Maintain a clean and inviting space for customers which includes, but not limited to: entrance, washrooms, top rope area, preschool area, bouldering areas, climbing floors, party room, front desk and storage area

• Giving facility tours, auto-belay orientations, bouldering orientations, bookings, and supervisions of guests

• Opening and closing duties
   

The Ideal Candidate:

• Will be ACMG or CWA Certification or will demonstrate climbing ability at the level to certify for CWA

• Will have experience teaching climbing children and adults(formal or recreational)

• Will have experience instructing belaying

• Will have extensive experience climbing indoors

• Will have experience with customer service

• Will have phenomenal customer interaction abilities

• Will have e professional attitude and an eagerness to share their love of climbing

• Will have e professional attitude and an eagerness to share their love of climbing
   

All Instructors are required to have current first aid training, equivalent to St. John Ambulance Standard First Aid with CPR. Because our employees work with children, Gym of Rock requires all successful candidates to have a criminal record check performed. Gym of Rock will pay the cost of the record check.

It is the intention of Gym of Rock that all instructors obtain certification as a Climbing Gym Instructor, through either the ACMG or CWA. If you do not have any Climbing Gym Instructor certification, you will be expected to demonstrate that you are within reach and qualifications to obtain it. Gym of Rock will pay the cost of this certification for successful candidates*.

This is position will consist of hours during the day, evenings on weekdays and during the day on weekends.

Pay: $15.20-$25.00 per hour
